Hey Everyone!
Hey Everyone!
One of the joys of coming late to this party is that you folks have already done a lot of the 'heavy lifting' in terms of thinking this stuff through. So if I can, I'd like to ask some questions and get your insight.
1. A lot of character creation seems to be abstracted, with a reduction of a lot of finicky rules. However when we get to encumbrance and things like tracking light and food, it reverts back to tracking that stuff in a granular way. I'm assuming that's because of the xp for gold system. Is that true? Would it unbalance the game if I went to an encumbrance system like LoTFP or torch/ration tracking like The Black Hack?
2. What's your experience with magic items in the game? If I were to run a module like Hot Springs Island or Barrowmaze (that seem replete with magic items), do I have to make modifications to the number of magic items distributed to players?
3. In your experience, what are the styles of games that work best with Whitehack?
Thanks for taking the time to answer my questions.
