Greetings everyone!

I've been following the recent G+ announcement closely over the last few days, more so what our community is planning to do. As a owner of a few communities I don't want to jump ship in haste and would prefer the dust to settle and see what everyone else is doing. One of my biggest concerns is that we fragment our communities by moving over to inferior platforms, not too mention potentially loosing the content that we have built up over the years.

Something that occurred to me last night is that we in fact do have an option of remaining with G+.

"Google plans to continue to offer an enterprise-only version of Google+. The company says there’s value as a private network within organizations."

Why don't we go private? Now there are costs involved obviously, and a fair amount of logistics however we get to keep using G+, and hopefully retain our communities as they are and keep our content.

Going private would mean establishing a G-Suite account, which for those that are not aware means registering a domain, creating user accounts etc. The G-Suite provides email, office apps, etc. a lot of services which our communities already use. For accurate pricing we would need to contact Google and discuss this with them.

Alternatively, I'm the owner of a G-Suite account which does not cost me anything as I was an early adopter. It has full access to all G-Suite services including G+. If this could be reappropriated for our use and not cost anything I would be happy to donate it.

I think this option deserves discussion. What say you?
